Chicago shooting: Lone gunman enters hospital in Chicago, kills a doctor, policeman, and pharmacist.

Updated: Nov 22, 2018

On November 19th, 2018 around 3:20 PM (CDT), A lone gunman named Juan Lopez, 32 years old walked into the Mercy Hospital & Medical Center in South Side, Chicago, started arguing with a doctor named Tamara O'Neal (who he had been in a relationship with prior to the shooting, according to BBC), before opening fire on innocent civilians. He proceeded to kill Dr. O'Neal, a first-year pharmacist named Danya Less, and a responding police officer named Samuel Jimenez, before being killed himself. It is unknown whether he was killed by a self-inflicted gunshot or by someone else (presumably a police officer). Multiple Sources (BBC and Chicago Tribune to name a few) claim Lopez had a concealed carrying license, allowing him to carry a concealed weapon into the hospital. Many sources have reported that Lopez allegedly had a troubling past with women and that issues with O'Neal, his ex may have been one of the main motives in his decision to shoot up the hospital.

Stats: What we know so far.

According to CNN, This is the second mass shooting that occurred this Monday, the 5th mass shooting that has occurred in the pass two weeks, and the 7th total shooting in the past two weeks.

As mentioned earlier, One of the doctors killed (Tamara O'Neal) was an ex of the shooter (Juan Lopez)

4 People total were killed (Lopez included) in the shooting and Officer Samuel Jimenez (only 28 years old) was killed too after less than two years on the Chicago Police Cells.

Jimenez was married with 3 young children, and according to the Chicago Tribune, "He's the second Chicago police officer killed in the line of duty this year, the most since 2010 when five officers were fatally shot. The first was Near North District Cmdr. Paul Bauer, killed Feb. 13 outside the Thompson Center."
